[poem] This January's Snow

This January's Snow

Did something surreal
and daft just last night.
I rolled a snowman
and played snowball fights.

Swirled some smooth ice cream
with gorgeous gateau.
Best course of the meal,
a luscious combo.

Shy snowflakes spinning
formed rugs o' fluffy fleece.
Mini ice sculptures,
I did carve with ease.

Felt so Christmassy,
like '79..?
Old winter photos
unfroze back to life.

Simple images going through my mind while I was making
a snowman in the freezing cold last night at Inverleith
Park (opposite the Royal Botanic Gardens), weakly lit
by the streetlamps, after a meal that finished off
with ice cream and blackforest gateau. (Haven't made
a snowman or had snowball fights for 20-odd years!)

Mad and sad but true..! ;)

It's my first poem this year. (Don't worry, I think
my writing will improve over the year...)
